Several things about the art of stained glass drew me to the medium. First, glass is so dynamic, always changing with different lighting. Secondly, my personal style is more naturalistic, so coming up with glass that resembles the element I'm trying to represent is an on going challenge. I respect and admire those who have mastered that technique. As I was choosing a field to pursue, two careers were fighting for dominance. I've always loved being in the woods and drawing. Those affinities were inseparable to me, and the natural progression led me to a degree in both Fine Art and Natural Resource Management. During my freshman year, I discovered stained glass through my Painting and Design professor, and that began a 22-year love affair with color and light! I've found a very challenging and satisfying medium that truly has no boundaries! I am constantly stretching my abilities in painting, sandblasting, fusing and design. There is a definite Glass Renaissance right now, and I'm so excited to be a part of it! I own and operate a small studio in Chester, Montana, where I live with my wife and family. Chester is on Hwy 2, so if you're ever heading our way, stop in and chat with us. |
