About the IGGA

 
The International Guild of Glass Artists, Inc. is an international IRS-approved 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization association of artists, artisans and craftspeople who work with glass as a crafts and art medium.
 
The International Guild of Glass Artists was formed by a group of stained glass people from Massachusetts, California, Oregon, British Columbia, New York, Florida, Montana, etc. in mid-1993. They formed the non-profit corporation, elected a Board of Directors that meets online on a continuous basis and threw the doors open to everyone working with glass in any way, shape or form.  
 
Techniques and media used by members are diverse and include acid-etching, copper foil, fusing and slumping, glassblowing and casting, painting on glass, lampworking and flameworking, lead, zinc and copper came, glass mosaics, neon, sandblasting, and many more.
 
The objectives of the Guild are :

  • To promote the public appreciation of and understanding about ART glass.
  • To serve the interests of the artists involved with the production of works of glass art.
  • To provide the opportunity for exchange of experiences and opinions through discussion, study, publications, meetings, demonstrations, and expositions.
  • To acquire and disseminate data and information relative to glass technology, and to the uses and applications of glass as a decorative and architectural art form, including market trends.
  • To co-operate with other local, regional and national organizations and groups in the common endeavour of promoting glass art.
  • To acquire and disseminate data and information on business and management problems of glass artists.
  • To represent members on questions affecting their financial, commercial and industrial interests.
